Cape Town Day Excursion – Table Mountain, Penguins & Cape Point

Cape Town, South Africa

Overview

This full-day Cape Town shore excursion covers the peninsula's coastal and mountain highlights in a single day. You'll begin at Boulders Beach in Simon's Town, home to a colony of African penguins, then continue to Cape Point and the Cape of Good Hope, where a light on-the-go lunch fits neatly into the day. From there the route follows Chapman's Peak Drive, one of the world's most spectacular coastal roads, with postcard views at every turn, plus a stop at Maiden's Cove tidal pool in Clifton. Weather permitting, the day finishes at Table Mountain.

The excursion runs approximately 9–10 hours, departing at 8:00 a.m. aligned to your cruise ship's arrival and returning by 6:00 p.m., with pickup and drop-off at the designated tour area at the V&A Waterfront cruise terminal known as Markers Landing. Allow at least 45 minutes from docking to clear the terminal and meet your driver/guide. Fitness level is moderate and suitable for most guests, with some walking and light stair climbing; wheelchair access is available at most major sites, and a funicular at Cape Point is available for guests who prefer not to walk up to the lighthouse.

Included are transfers with vehicle and fuel, an expert English-speaking guide, and Chapman's Peak Drive toll fees. Entry fees are not included in this package and can be pre-paid or paid on-site, and meals, beverages, and gratuities are for your own account. Bring a passport/ID copy, hat, sunscreen, sunglasses, camera, and binoculars, and wear comfortable enclosed walking shoes with a light jacket for the wind. Note that any tickets included in a booking are non-refundable, and if your tour falls during the Table Mountain cable car's annual maintenance period (usually July–August), a local highlight or alternative activity will be arranged instead.
