Meals & Refreshments
On the Addo Elephant Park full-day safari, a traditional South African braai (BBQ) lunch is fully included. The braai spread includes steak, chicken kebab (sosaties), boerewors (sausage), pap, chakalaka, fresh bread, and Malva pudding with custard for dessert. One beverage (beer, soft drink, tea, or coffee) and bottled water are also included.
You can book a tour by visiting our website or contacting us directly via email or WhatsApp.
Cape Town day tours (Peninsula, City Tour, and Wine tours) do not all include meals in the standard price. Wine tours typically include wine tastings, and some tours stop at restaurants. Additional food and beverages beyond what is listed are at your own cost. Check the specific tour inclusions before booking.
Yes, you are welcome to bring your own snacks, water, and light refreshments for the journey. This is especially recommended for longer tours like the Addo safari, as you will be out for approximately 8 hours.
Clothing & What to Wear
Casual, comfortable clothing is recommended. Opt for neutral or earthy tones (khaki, olive, beige) rather than bright colours, as these are less likely to startle wildlife. Comfortable, closed-toe shoes are advised. Layers are a good idea as mornings can be cool and afternoons warm.
Smart-casual clothing works well for city tours. Comfortable walking shoes are a must, especially for Table Mountain and Boulders Beach. Cape Town's weather is famously changeable — always bring a light jacket or windbreaker, even on warm days.
There is no strict dress code for wine tours, but smart casual attire is appropriate for vineyard visits. Avoid beachwear or overly casual clothing at the wine estates. Comfortable shoes are important as some cellars involve walking on gravel paths.
Absolutely. South Africa has intense sun, especially during summer (October–March). A wide-brimmed hat, high-SPF sunscreen (SPF 50+ recommended), and UV-protective sunglasses are essential for all outdoor tours including safari game drives, beach stops, and mountain visits.
Toilet & Sanitation Facilities
Yes. Restroom stops are built into the Addo safari itinerary — including one on the scenic drive to the park and again at the 11:00 AM break during the game drive. The main camp at Addo has clean, well-maintained ablution facilities with flush toilets and running water.
Cape Point Nature Reserve has public restrooms near the funicular and restaurant area. Boulders Beach (penguin colony) also has toilet facilities. Stops at restaurants and attractions along the route typically have access to clean ablution facilities.
Addo Elephant National Park game drives are conducted on paved and gravel roads inside the park. Guests remain in the closed vehicle during drives unless at a designated rest camp or picnic area. There are no bush toilet stops — all comfort breaks happen at designated facilities. Plan accordingly before each drive segment.
Facilities at established parks and rest camps (Addo, Cape Point, Boulders Beach, wine estates) generally have running water and soap. It is still a good idea to carry a small bottle of hand sanitiser, especially during game drives when you may not have immediate access to a restroom.
Feminine Hygiene & Personal Care
Yes. Restroom facilities are available at regular intervals throughout all full-day tours. On the Addo safari, you will have access to proper ablution facilities at the rest camp during the midday lunch stop and on the drive there. Always carry a small personal care bag with any hygiene products you may need.
Most established facilities at Addo rest camps, Cape Point, wine estates, and restaurants will have sanitary disposal bins in female restrooms. However, it is always advisable to carry a small resealable bag for disposal in case bins are not available at a remote or rural stop.
Rest camp facilities at Addo and other stops have enclosed bathroom stalls. For multi-day or longer tours, Into Tours can advise on suitable scheduled stops. If you have specific needs, it is best to communicate them to your guide or to the Into Tours team before departure.
Children & Families
Yes. Into Tours specifically notes that their Addo Elephant safari is suitable for all ages, including the elderly. The game drives are conducted in closed, air-conditioned vehicles, making them safe and comfortable for children. Cape Town tours also welcome families.
Children's pricing may vary by tour. It is best to confirm directly with Into Tours when booking, as rates can depend on the child's age and the specific tour. Contact them via WhatsApp or email for exact pricing.
Most Into Tours experiences have no strict age minimum. However, for safety reasons, parents should use their own judgement for toddlers and very young children on safari. The wine tours are intended for adult participation in tastings (18+), though non-tasting family members are generally welcome.
Safety & Accessibility
You can book a tour by visiting our website or contacting us directly via email or WhatsApp.
Yes. Into Tours is fully licensed and compliant with all South African licensing, vehicle, guide, and insurance regulations. Passenger liability insurance is included in the tour price.
The Addo Elephant safari is specifically described as suitable for elderly visitors. Vehicles are air-conditioned and comfortable. Guests with mobility challenges should advise Into Tours at the time of booking so appropriate arrangements can be made — for example, requesting assistance with boarding or choosing routes with better-paved rest stops.
All Into Tours guides are experienced local professionals. In the event of a medical emergency, your guide will follow standard emergency procedures and contact relevant services. Guests with pre-existing medical conditions or allergies (including to insect stings or medication) should inform the guide before departure and carry any necessary medication.
Transport & Logistics
Yes. Return transfers from Port Elizabeth Harbour, hotels, and the airport are included in the Addo safari price. Cape Town tours typically include pickup from your accommodation in the Cape Town area. Confirm your exact pickup location and time with Into Tours when booking.
Into Tours uses closed, air-conditioned vehicles for all tours. This provides comfort, protection from the elements, and safety during safari game drives. The vehicles are well-maintained and comply with South African transport regulations.

Absolutely — shore excursions for cruise passengers are a specialty of Into Tours. Tours are timed to align with cruise schedules, and an on-time return to the harbour is guaranteed. Pickup is offered directly from the Port Elizabeth or Cape Town harbour.
Wildlife & Nature
Addo Elephant National Park is home to the Big 5 (elephant, lion, leopard, rhino, buffalo) and is considered a Big 7 park (adding great white sharks and southern right whales in the marine section). Common sightings include elephants, lions, zebra, warthog, meerkat, kudu, eland, jackal, hyena, and a wide variety of bird species.
Wildlife sightings in nature are never guaranteed, as animals roam freely in their natural habitat. However, Addo has one of the highest elephant densities of any national park in the world, making elephant sightings almost certain. Into Tours' experienced guides maximise your chances of exceptional wildlife encounters.
Yes. The African penguin colony at Boulders Beach in Simon's Town is a permanent, year-round colony. The penguins are generally very active and approachable (from designated boardwalks) at any time of year, though breeding season (March–May) often means more activity around the nest sites.
Practical Tips & Miscellaneous
You can book a tour by visiting our website or contacting us directly via email or WhatsApp.
Mobile signal and Wi-Fi are very limited or unavailable inside Addo Elephant National Park. The rest camp area may have limited connectivity. It is best to download offline maps or any content you need before entering the park, and to embrace the digital detox as part of the experience!
Cameras and photography equipment are very welcome on all tours — Into Tours even lists a camera as a recommended item to bring. Please note that drone use inside national parks like Addo requires prior SANParks permission and is generally restricted to protect wildlife. Do not fly drones in the park without the correct permits.
Gratuities for guides are not included in the tour price. Tipping is customary and greatly appreciated in South Africa. A tip of R50–R200+ per person (depending on the experience and group size) is a common and generous gesture for a full-day tour.
Tours are priced in South African Rand (ZAR). Payments through the online booking platform (WeTravel) may support card payments in other currencies. For cash on the day (e.g. souvenirs, additional drinks), South African Rand is required. ATMs are available at shopping centres in Port Elizabeth and Cape Town before your tour.
